Reflection
on Unit Four (4) Developing a Philosophy of writing for Teaching by: Rhonda Christopher
What is the purpose of developing writing for teaching? Well, I have gain an understanding to develop different styles to cater for a wide range of audience. Also, it is my understanding that writing must demonstrate diverse types of genre as it teaches different types of students through a variety of learning activities. Additionally, writing should most certainly have a purpose. Some genre’s may tell a story; for example, a narrative will tell a story, whiles others may be descriptive, poetic or share information through the means of a letter. Although I was knowledgeable about each genre, I am now able to have a better understanding as to how they can be written in diverse ways. For instance, a genre like poetry can be written for an intimate setting through the means of a love letter, it also can be casual by writing to a friend, consultative for the use of a complaint or invitation and frozen by means of an official letter. Knowing this, teaching students how to write will be easier as I will give them the guidance a to the purpose of their writing, weather it is to entertain or educate while writing is done in mind with who they are writing to.

The language arts
instructor later gave us a task to complete.
This was to complete a narrative written piece which we would share in
the end with the class. All these events
that took place within our present classroom can be carried out within our own
classrooms one we reenter the classroom as trained teachers. Keeping in mind that while each grade level
will learn about how to write, they will certainly write to suite the stage
which they are currently in.
I admire the way you have outlined your philosophy. It is very comprehensive and concise.
